I've been hiding.🙈I posted about this last week and promised that I'd be better. But I carried on hiding. It's not good when you rely on social media as a marketing tool. And then I realised.I'm hiding away here, buried under client work and pretending that my socials can wait. And while I'm doing that, my clients are out there changing the world. Smashing their targets.Growing their businesses.Disrupting their industries. And I've just been existing. That's not why they chose me. They chose me because we compliment each other. Because they know that I can support them in the way they need and that I'm just as invested in their success as they are. And that I don't hide away.So that's it. I'm forcing myself back into the world. My clients deserve better.💪Starting again… again. 😂Why do your clients choose you?#Wellbalanced #NumberGeek #Unicorns

The reality is that social media can be exhausting and it can also be another job on the to do list. So if you need a break, that’s fine, it’ll still be there when you get back.

It's always good to see your face and posts brightening up the place 😊💜My clients choose me because they know I'll help them with their weight/eating without getting them obsessed with food/weight-loss. They know I won't judge them or tell them off or tell them to do anything they don't want to do.

It’s hard work keeping up with Socials Jennie. Better to take time, than to burn out trying to do everything.I imagine your honesty is another reason your clients choose you, and it shows here in abundance. Your clients, they will have also experienced this feeling (unless they are “in” social media 🤦♀️) My clients work with me because we “click” too. I have great relationships with them, they trust me, with some of their most important “to do” jobs, and ultimately with their reputation too.

I hear you, Jennie! I fell off the horse last year and if it hadn't been for Movember, I am not sure I would have come back when I did! Had enough of the digital world and the break did me good! have much stronger boundaries in place now and feel so much better about what I am sharing. The boundaries are important as was committing to only 5 days max a week and nothing at all on holidays!

Two truths, one lie...Haven't seen one of these posts for ages and I'm a big fan of a retro theme so here goes. There are three statements below... two are true and one is a lie.Which one is the porkie pie?🎸 I taught myself to play guitar from books. I used to sit in the kitchen where nobody could hear me and practice before work every day.🏒 I used to play ice hockey at my local ice rink and was the top defender in the local league🚲 I met Bradley Wiggins in Rome and he was hiding a can of beer behind his back while he was doing a TV interview after a time trialWhaddya think? 🎸🏒🚲#Wellbalanced #NumberGeek #Unicorns

I'm gonna change the world. A lot of us set up on our own so that we can make a difference. For some it's just to change our own lives or the lives of our children. For others, there's a larger mission. A huge, all consuming purpose to make the world a better place. Sometimes it feels like you should have a massive, noble passion that drives you. It feels like you should be in everyone's faces, with strong morals and values that drive every decision you make. But we can all make a difference. A million small good deeds can add up over time. This is one of the reasons why I love working with small charities and businesses who do things differently.Because despite all the large scale change that we need to see in the world, we also need to remember that small things add up too.Taking a child away from their caring responsibilities for a few hours. Making sure that medication and therapy is accessible, when the NHS falls short.Giving a voice and an identity to people whose history and culture isn't reflected in the world we live in. Listening to grieving families to make sure they can capture the essence of the loved ones they've lost. I might not be changing the world with what I do. But I'm making it easier for those who are. And that's alright with me. Who do you know that's changing the world? #Wellbalanced #NumberGeek #Unicorns

Considering a new employee?Let's break it down! As a business owner, the decision to hire a new employee is a crucial one. Whether you're considering a full-time hire, a contractor, or a part-time team member, it's essential to look beyond the immediate costs and consider the long-term impact. And this is where a management accountant comes in.📆 What will your new employee look like in 2 years?Think about the future. What skills, experience, and contributions do you expect from your new team member? Visualise how they'll shape your company's growth.💰 Can you really afford an employee?Affordability is a critical factor. Can your budget accommodate a full-time employee's salary and benefits, or would a contractor or part-time arrangement be more suitable?📊 It's more than just training costsThe expenses go beyond training. Consider hidden costs like equipment, office space, and employee benefits.💡 The unseen factorsAre you keeping track of profitability? Analysing your current position and forecasting growth are essential steps. What's the ROI you anticipate from this hire?📈 Can you pay them and expect sales?Evaluate your ability to meet payroll and expect your new employee to contribute to sales or business growth. Factor in commissions or bonuses if relevant.💼 The associated costsDon't forget about pensions, healthcare, and other benefits that come with employment. These expenses can add up quickly.📆 A 12-month snapshotProject the next 12 months with these factors in mind. By crunching the numbers and forecasting changes, you'll gain a clearer picture of your financial viability.📚 This is where a management accountant comes in.All these calculations and financial considerations are what a skilled management accountant excels at. They help you break it all down, providing you with a comprehensive view of your hiring decisions. There's more to hiring a new employee that goes beyond the surface. It's about planning for the future, assessing costs, and ensuring that your business not only survives but continues to growth.Consider your options wisely, and if in doubt, consult with a financial expert or management accountant...I know someone who can help you with this.😉

Look out for your 40-something year old female friends.Because menopause is a b!tch.Along with periods, menopause is one of those things we feel we should suffer in silence about. But it's a wild ride. It makes you feel like you're losing your mind and unless you realise it's your hormones, you can believe it's true. So I feel like we need to talk about our experiences, just in case it helps someone else recognise what's going on!I heard it described recently as like going through puberty again. You remember that? Your moods running high and low. Your skin breaking out all the time. Your energy levels are all over the place.Kinda makes sense. The worst symptom for me was the rage. Like an all consuming anger. I almost felt trapped inside. A small part of me knew that nobody has done anything to make me feel so angry. But a larger part of me was in control of what I said and did and it was stronger. The anger would flip to sorrow so quickly. I'd get mad and then instantly feel sad and regretful for how awful I was, and so the sadness took over. And repeat. There were some mild hot flashes (I say mild, they were still horrible), inability to lose weight, no energy (tired but wired).Oh and the brain fog. That's fun. Mid sentence, one cheeky little word just fvcks off into the distance, never to be seen again. Usually a really ordinary, obvious word. "Are you gonna walk or take the... the... you know.... the.... the thing... with wheels... big metal thing we go everywhere in..." *throws something in frustrationSo yes, I'm taking hormone supplements. I couldn't live like that any more. But the dose is mild and the decline is rapid so it needs to be reassessed regularly.I just hope that someone has read this and thought "I'm not losing my mind"! Or has recognised it in their partner and can start to help, support and understand a bit more.Have you hit puberty #2 yet? What were/are your experiences?

I have a confession to make. It's something I've been wrestling with for years and it's something that I've been ashamed to admit publicly. But the time has come for me to embrace who I really am.I'm an Accountant.I know. I know. You thought I was a bookkeeper right? (or you didn't know the difference 😂)But the truth is, I'm a fully paid up member of CIMA - The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Now please... calm down and hear me out. I know I've just dropped the A bomb in your feed without warning. And I'm sorry for that. But before you turn your back on me and put me in that dusty grey box with the other accountants, hear me out.CIMA accountants are different. (Me especially!)Can we still be friends?

I am awesome. 🤘 I'm a fun, friendly, loyal person.I give a lot of myself to others and truly believe that I can make a difference in people's lives.I'm a great singer, a brilliant cook, a fantastic mom and a loving partner.I'm also a thorough and diligent management accountant and I genuinely give a sh*t about my clients and love to share in their successes.I have a personal brand and a business brand that attract the awesome (crazy!) people I love to work with.I've been in business for almost ten years and I've grown consistently each year.I show up every day and try my hardest. I regularly face the things that scare me.I am worthy of all the wonderful things I want for myself and my family. And I am cringing inside because that was really hard to write. But if I don't believe it, nobody else will. So it starts here.Could you write a post about yourself like this? Do you believe in how awesome you are?

Wellbalanced is 9 years old today! 🎉🎉I'm not entirely sure how I've made it this far. But I'm bloody proud that I have!Wellbalanced was just a way to earn a bit of money so I could stay home and look after my baby. It's become soooo much more than that and it's given me so much over the years. If you met the Jen that started this business, you wouldn't recognise her. (she didn't have red hair for a start! 😂)She always had it in her, but she had to grow a lot to get to where she is today. Happy Birthday Wellbalanced! 🎂#Wellbalanced #NumberGeek.#BusinessBirthday

Confidence is a funny thing.People generally think I'm confident.Because I have short red hair.Because I'm (mostly) outgoing and talkative.Because I sing on stage with a band. I would say I'm not confident.I have so much doubt, anxiety and fear. I hate confrontation. I often avoid doing/saying what I think to keep things calm, and I shrink when someone is aggressive towards me.Right now, I'm overwhelmed and easily triggered. Linkedin, Whatsapp groups, DM's - they are not things I can face right now.So am I not confident because of these things? Or is confidence something you have in some situations and not in others?I learned to "turn on" my confidence when I did my aerobics instructor training. I would be anxious and tense before a class but when I put on the mic, I was aerobics Jen instead.Would you say you're confident?#Wellbalanced #NumberGeek #Confidence
