This recipe calls for 50/50 ground beef/ground pork. If you don’t have or can’t eat ground pork, you can use 100% ground beef. However, that will change the flavor and texture slightly.

A few weeks ago whist out I saw the tastiest looking sausage rolls ever and wanted some . When I found this recipe I was super excited so I made them last week but I added some black pudding and keto sweet chili sauce like the ones in the restaurant. They were absolutely amazing, delicious and the pastry was simple perfect. So easy to make and my family loved them.
What would be helpful to me as I’m new to keto is the macro count for the pastry as I think it would be great for pies and tarts. So there’s any chance you could let me I’d be thrilled. Thank you so much for a wonderful amd easy recipe.

  4. Thank you for the lovely recipe. My son who is suspicious of anything labelled keto woffled down a number of the rolls before he realised that it is a keto recipe. This will be another recipe I plan to add to my repertoire of recipes.

  5. I get so confused with the readings as I’m new to this. Please help – is it 142kcal per mini sausage roll, or for all 18 servings?

    Reply

    • Hi Maverick,

The nutritional information is per serving. 1 serving is 1 sausage roll, so 142kcal each.

We always specify the serving size in the post, often above the ingredient list, so that should be able to assist you with any of our other recipes 🙂

  8. Can I change mozzarella for cheddar

    Reply

    • Hi Gary,

I don’t recommend it as cheddar has a higher fat content and doesn’t have the stretchiness that mozzarella does.

  9. How important is the Xantham Gum to the pastry? That’s the only ingredient I’m missing!

    Reply

    • Hi Amanda,

The xanthan gum acts like gluten and is essential to keep the pastry together, I don’t recommend leaving it out 🙂

  10. I made these for my mum whom both her & I are on the Keto way of life. I’m a vegetarian and had a taste of the pastry (will be using it for a quiche base) and it’s beautiful. The sausage roll it’s self has gone down very well with mum & other family members. I don’t know if you can but I’m going to freeze one, let it defrost fully & reheat and see how that turns out.

    Reply

    • I’m so glad your family enjoyed them!

They’ve never lasted long enough around here to try them freezer test, I’d love to know how they turn out.
