“I wish I had thought of that.”Anyone who has ever judged a design competition—looking at hundreds of design solutions spread across table after table in a large room—knows that standing out in the crowd starts with arresting, innovative, or original visual expression.Catching attention is primary. But what separates good from great is not visual. It is the thinking—that creates clarity, simplicity, and an enriching experience. As a judge, I'd consider—did it change my mind? Did I learn something new? While capturing attention is valuable, advancing ideas solely based on their appearance—no matter how aesthetically pleasing, innovative, or original they may be—is not enough. Holding attention long enough to move a new idea forward is valuable. You do this by starting with a purpose.Go beyond surface-level aesthetics and focus on delivering original thinking. Those who can effectively advance a strategy with creative visual expression will leave others thinking, “I wish I had thought of that.”#design #strategy #creative

Accepting Feedback as a Designer Hello, designers! Consider feedback to be a friendly guide rather than a storm. Each person's idea is like a shining star in your design journey. Getting advice is like receiving postcards from new places. Dive in, ask questions, and look for the unique parts. Remember, the adventure of your design journey is more important than finding the perfect island. Advice is like a gentle breeze that propels your ship forward. Stand firm, but be willing to adapt. Every project improves your design.

Designing around content is extremely important. Design isn't just aesthetics, it's about conveying a message. That message, that context, is what you need to communicate with your design. Don't skip this step, and don't underestimate it.

The Design Space can be intimidating... Yes, the Design Space can be intimidating yet it can as well be inspiring. How?There are a lot of amazing designers in the design space whose works captivate one's attention in no time and if one is not careful, one could get intimidated by their creativity and stunning designs. One thing I love about myself is the fact that I'm always willing to learn, so rather than get intimidated and pressured by my competitors, I look out for what they do, that I don't do. I choose to learn from them and implement their techniques and then look for ways by which I could stand out in the design space. Also rather than compete, I collaborate with my competitors by engaging with their content, buying courses from them, and creating content with them. Collaboration with competitors has great benefits as it fosters innovation and learning and helps one grow in one's niche. What about you? How do you deal with Competitors in your niche? Let me know in the comment section 👇I remain, Racheal Olatunji, a Creative Designer who specializes in helping businesses/brands upscale and stand out even in a competitive space through functional and aesthetically pleasing designs. Connect with me and let's get to work! 😁✨#14daysgrowthwithtoyin#day5growthwithtoyin#contentwriting#linkedIn#GraphicDesign#CreativeDesigner#competitionintechspace

Often, in architecture and branding both, clients come up to me with questions like- so what is your style? What kind of designs do you make? Basically looking for my 'Label' as a spatial and visual designer. But in the reality, my sense of design is imaginative, responsive and transformative. I don’t deliver a standard, modular product. My typical design process would include understanding your placement in the niche at a macro level, and then developing a language that works best for you with your micros in place. I do well with more information, meaningful communication, research and creative freedom- that's just my way of doing things. It is not definitive, but its a unique take on a standard yet highly competitive service. My design is not just a statement that I'm here to make as a designer. It is a statement that I'm here to make, as a designer, in response to a past, a future and some unforeseen possibilities that make a present- and a little bit of magic. So if you are pop, I’ll give you the best pop you can be in your industry. And if you are an artdeco masterpiece, I’ll find and create the best way you can stand out. And if you don't fit in labelled boxes like me, I'll find the best way to be a dynamic and a very aesthetic brand and space that embraces your multiplicity. That is my style. 🤝 #architecture #designer #art #future #branding #communication #research #creative #designstudio #spatialdesign #design
