These are the recipes that I had the most fun with! They are also the recipes that I got to flex my creative muscles with. Most of them are from more recent posts and for good reason, it took a lot of energy to move from Montana to Wyoming and cooking was largely a necessity during that time with little creativity involved. We still ate good, but cooking wasn't as fun! Once settled in my new kitchen, I could call upon my love of creativity in the kitchen, and these are my favorites for 2022!
Chicken Bacon and Cabbage Skillet. This was a total surprise, but such a nice one. Personally I can't wait to make this again.
Dried Apple Pie AKA Schnitz Pie. I have been wanting to bake a dried apple pie for the longest time. And then one day I simply put it together and it turned out so good, it won't be our last! Vintage recipes are still delicious, no matter how many decades have gone by...
Twice Baked Scalloped Potatoes. This pan of scalloped potatoes are so good. I love the chewy texture of the baked potatoes in place of raw uncooked potatoes usually called for in a scalloped potato recipe.
Grape and Banana Fruit Medley. Vintage and delicious, perfect as a salad or as dessert.
Chunky Raspberry Vinaigrette. Who knew a few frozen raspberries are all you need for such a vibrant vinaigrette? If you didn't before, you do now! You will want to make this soon. it is like springtime in your salad bowl.
Honey and Cinnamon Baked Apples. Another honey sweetened dessert to enjoy. Don't forget a little whipped cream...
Grilled Cheese Pizza Bombs! OK, there is only one thing to say about this recipe, this is fun food! And the best part? No hard and fast rules of what you must or must not use, make them as you wish. Use rolls cut in half or just slices of your favorite bread, you will still love this fun take on grilled cheese and pizza all rolled into one!
Cherry Cobbler Skillet. Cherries are not only delicious but they are so good for us with their bright color. And while a pie would have been enjoyed, I like to shake things up a bit. This easy skillet dessert is as good as pie, but so much easier to make.
Honey Vanilla Custard. Honey is one of my favorite sweeteners. And custard one of my favorite desserts, this was a happy recipe development success!
Cream of Tomato Soup, pretty darn close to Campbells. Campbells soup was the soup of my childhood, so when I wanted to develop a tomato soup recipe, I knew what it needed to taste like, and this one does. Funny how no matter how old we get, we still want the foods of our youth.
Homemade Dish Soap, that works! While we are definitely a DIY family, but dish soap still needs to get our dishes clean, and this one does.
Basic Goat's Milk Baby Formula, yes breast is best, but sometimes...This post was very near and dear to my heart, and one of my favorites to research and write. My own sweet grandson drinks this formula.
DIY Homemade Week Killer. I love this homemade garden weed killer. Why? Because it won't hurt kids, chickens, cats or dogs. And it works. Just remember to spray the weeds late morning and let the sun take care of the rest.
DIY Homemade Rose Care. The rose in this planter is a yellow rose. It has traveled with me originally from Montana to Wyoming. And then when we decided to do a bit of winter travel, it was the last thing loaded in our little RV to come along with us, as we left Wyoming. Now I know that sounds a bit silly, but I did not want to lose it in the harsh Wyoming winter. And this rose that I keep to remember my grandmother Carter, bloomed on what would have been my dad's 100th birthday December 2022. By the way, The DIY Homemade Rose Care, is really easy...
