Very important not to literally translate greetings and expressions like "looking forward to hearing from you" when writing an email or a letter.#learnSpanish

#tipoftheday #quicktips #Englishtips๐ Punctuation in English and German isn't always the same.๐ก In English, we don't use a comma before "that" (with a dependent clause).๐ค โ This is a common mistake because a comma is used before a dependent clause in German.๐๐ญ Commas are used differently in English - often, we use a comma to indicate a pause in the sentence.๐ Like my quick tips? Is it โmuch thanksโ or is it โmany thanksโ?According to the Merriam-Webster Online dictionary, โthanksโ is plural, having come from the Middle English singular word โthank.โ Therefore, โmany thanksโ is the right phrase because we use โmanyโ with plural count nouns, and we use โmuchโ with mass nouns. #AmiableLanguageServices #manythanks #helpingyoulearnenglish #learningenglish

Have you heard the term "๐๐จ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฆ"?In#English, it refers to an online company that ends with ".com" but we read the punctuation as "๐๐จ๐ญ". The same word is used for "polka dots" ("lunares", in Spanish). However, we read the same punctuation mark in other ways, too. When we use a mark to finish a sentence, we call it a "๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐". We also commonly use this word for extra emphasis and determination, like in the sentence, "You must be home at 10 p.m., period!" (in Spanish, "...y punto!") The word "๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐" is also used for a woman's time of the month.Lastly, when writing numbers, we use a "decimal ๐ฉ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ญ". We express one and a half as "1.5" (NOT with a comma after the units digit) and we read it, "one point five".Was this new for you? I'm happy to clear up your doubts about English. Send me a DM and let's get started. Now, go start your๐๐จ๐ญ.๐๐จ๐ฆ!#fluencycoach#ingles#ESL#EFL#ELL#aprendeingles#cursoingles#ilovetoteach#makeitfun

The evolution of words is fascinating, isn't it?Take the word "cardรบmenes," for example. It's Spanish for "a school of fish." Did you know "school" in Spanish is "escuela"? The literal word translation of "cardรบmenes" comes from an old middle English word "shoal." Mix "shoal" with some low German "scol" for a crowd, band, or troop and in modern English, "school" comes out the other side. When working with clients, we learn to understand there is an evolution of words we all must hear and understand to create joint success. How do you evolve your vocabulary with clients? Share your thoughts in the comments below.#evolve #business #wordsmatter #wordpower PS: I was going to talk about the word sincere. Ironically, the etymology of sincere, well - is not so clear or sincere!
