How is this for event design? Events are more than just the music, the speaker and the message. If you create the right environment, you can achieve more. It creates context. What do you think?https://lnkd.in/dsa-i5Ya

Some thoughts about a project in Argentina that I was part of as an artist and producer in 2019. Documentation is the biggest challenge as a performing artist. One is on to the next project and time to reflect gets lost. Time to catch up! What is the secret to keeping up with documentation? I'd love to get some tips. #performingarts #artsandculture #newmusic #oscaredelstein #newwaysofbeingdoingknowing #artsdocumentationhttps://lnkd.in/eBTisSv2

Official Cold Cave October 14, 2023 Great American Music Hall San Francisco, CA Poster ShirtTwo weeks separate theOfficial Cold Cave October 14, 2023 Great American Music Hall San Francisco, CA Poster ShirtIn addition,I will do this final day of Paris Fashion Week from the first day of Fiac, the International Contemporary Art Fair, where some 170 galleries set up shop under the same roof. Except this year, that roof was not the sublime, paned glass of the Grand Palais. At the Grand Palais Éphemère, its renovation stand-in, there is no natural light streaming from above. The vaulted hall could be a convention center—or airport terminal—in any major city. But its direct view to the Eiffel Tower sets things straight: an event of this scale in Paris will always feel unlike anywhere else. Alternate venue aside, it might as well have been the Before Times: same-ish layout; same-ish who’s who of heavyweight artists; same-ish scene of cosmopolitan gallerists interacting with a smartly-dressed crowd eager to see and be seen. And like PFW, Fiac seemed ripe for a revelatory moment—proof of some sort that we have lived through the most upending moment of our collective existence. A Louise Nevelson composition from 1976-78 at Pace Gallery looked as relevant as ever: the reclaimed materials, the all-over black, the uneasy expression of such a random arrangement. Overall, though? After a year away, the energy was undeniably upbeat, but there was also the sense of plus ça change… perhaps an opportunity missed to shake things up.Click here to buy it: https://lnkd.in/dFtZ4CGfVisit Home page: https://onechamptee.com

Unveiling the Science Behind New Mexico's Music Highway! 🎶🛣️In New Mexico you can drive east on Route 66 and hit a rumble strip that plays "America the Beautiful" if you drive at the speed limit, 45 mph, turning the wheels of your car into a phonograph.Let's take a fascinating dive into the scientific marvel that powers New Mexico's Musical Highway.🎵 **Concept and Design**:The Musical Highway is not just an accident; it's a meticulously designed auditory experience. The road surface features precisely spaced rumble strips, each with its unique length and placement. These rumble strips are like musical notes on a giant scale. When a vehicle's tires drive over them, they vibrate at specific frequencies, producing distinct musical tones.🔊 **Frequency and Sound Waves**:Every musical note corresponds to a specific frequency of sound wave vibrations. The design of the Musical Highway ensures that the rumble strips produce vibrations at particular frequencies that translate into recognizable musical notes. As your car moves along, your tires create a sequence of vibrations, generating a continuous melody that you can actually hear.🚗 **Speed and Pitch**:Interestingly, the pitch of the musical notes changes with your car's speed. Faster speeds lead to higher-pitched notes, while slower speeds produce lower-pitched notes. This interactive element adds an extra layer of engagement to the experience, making your journey down the highway a dynamic musical adventure.🎚️ **Tuning and Precision**:Creating a harmonious experience requires precise tuning of the rumble strip spacing and depths. Engineers work closely with acousticians and musicians to ensure that the musical sequence is accurate and enjoyable. It's a perfect fusion of scientific calculations and artistic sensibilities.👥 **Collaboration and Innovation**:Behind the scenes, the Musical Highway project involves collaboration between various experts—civil engineers, acousticians, transportation specialists, and local artists. This interdisciplinary teamwork ensures that the science of sound aligns seamlessly with the principles of road safety and transportation engineering. So, next time you find yourself cruising down New Mexico's Musical Highway, remember that the melodies under your wheels are not just random notes—they're the result of scientific precision, creative ingenuity, and the magic of collaboration. It's a testament to how science and art can harmonize to create something truly extraordinary.#MusicalHighwayScience #InnovationInMotion #ScienceBehindTheSound

The interior walls of a philharmonic hall play a crucial role in shaping the acoustics and sound quality of the music performed within. The design and materials used for the walls can significantly impact how sound waves travel, reflect, and interact with the space.Key factors influenced by interior walls include:Reflection: The walls can either reflect sound waves or absorb them to varying degrees. Proper reflection is essential to distribute sound evenly throughout the hall, ensuring that the audience can hear the music clearly.Diffusion: Some halls incorporate specially designed walls to scatter sound in different directions, reducing the buildup of strong reflections that can lead to echoes and uneven sound distribution.Absorption: Certain materials on the walls may absorb sound, helping to control reverberation and prevent excessive echoes. Too much absorption, however, can result in a dry and lifeless acoustical environment.Resonance: The resonance characteristics of the materials used in the walls can impact specific frequencies. Controlling resonances is crucial to achieving a balanced and natural sound.Shape and Design: The overall architecture and shape of the hall, including the arrangement of walls, balconies, and other features, influence the way sound waves move within the space. Halls are often designed with attention to these factors to optimize acoustics.Professional acousticians work closely with architects to design concert halls that provide optimal acoustics for different types of music. The goal is to create an environment where the audience can fully appreciate the nuances of the performance, with a balanced mix of direct sound, early reflections, and controlled reverberation. In summary, the interior walls of a philharmonic hall are highly important to the sound of the music, influencing factors such as reflection, diffusion, absorption, resonance, and overall hall geometry.A well-designed hall enhances the musical experience for both performers and audience members.

"Of hands and music" transforms the hands of important musicians as lifelike sculptures and thus preserves them for future generations. It would be a great honor for me if you would join.Already in past centuries, the greatest attention was paid to the representation of hands in artists' portraits. So I take a very old tradition and bring it into a modern age: I sculpt the hands of important musicians and bring them closer to people in exhibitions than ever before. It's a non-profit project, the sculptures are created for exhibitions and remain a permanent part of a museum's collection. The technique I use utilizes a highly refined material from the field of medicine, which not only allows me to produce plastic images that are accurate to the millimeter in just a few minutes. At the same time, the gestural expression found spontaneously by the musicians is reproduced exactly. I am convinced that the hands, as tools of creative expression, are also evidence of artistic personality.Already, more than 150 musicians, including many well-known bands, have been inspired by my project, among them: Sven Väth, ,Giant Rooks, Milky Chance, Danger Dan, Moderat, Grandbrothers, Roosevelt, Chilly Gonzales, The Notwist, Some Sprouts, Dota Kehr, Efterklang, Die Nerven, Hendrik Otremba, Die Selektion,Jennifer Cardini, Fury in the Slaughterhouse,The Backseat Lovers, Joep Beving, Riopy, Chad Lawson, Thees Uhlmann, Alligatoah, The Death South,Surf Curse, Stoppok, Die Sterne/Frank Spielker, Men i Trust, Bukhara, Element of Crime, Blurt, Albertine Sarges, Killing Joke, Antiheld, Donots ,Gisbert zu Knyphausen, Tigermilch, Fil BoRiva, ... .https://lnkd.in/e9tu8nBpThe procedure is quickly explained:The hands are molded and at the same time the moment of holding still during the molding is captured on a photo. In the process, a time-lapse video is also created, whereby this process is also captured in two- and three-dimensional form. At exhibitions, these documents complement the presentation of the sculptures. Many of the works were created before a concert. The molding process takes place within five minutes. For this purpose, the musicians dip their hands into a container filled with medical gel. Within about two minutes, the elastic material has set and the hands can be removed cleanly and without any residue. This creates a negative mold, which I fill with special plaster right on the spot. The finished, lifelike sculptures of the pair of hands can be viewed on the same day - for example, before the concert.
