AIR FRY RANGE COOKING TIMES

When preparing frozen foods in the air fry range the cooking times are usually 5-8 minutes less than conventional baking, and the results are also crispier and resemble the “fried” food we love.

When cooking raw meat in the air fry range I highly recommend using adigital meat thermometer. Some ranges come with them, if not there are inexpensive options available onAmazon.

Cooking times for meat will depend on the minimum safe internal temperatures recommended byfood safety guidelines.

Please remember every appliance is different and may cook differently. Use these cooking times and temperatures as a guide.

HOW TO AIR FRY FROZEN FOOD

One of the easiest and most family-friendly ways to use the Air Fry Range is for frozen foods. Start by selecting the air fry function and setting the temperature. Next, allow the oven to preheat for a few minutes. Next, place the desired amount of food on the air fry tray or air fryer basket in a single layer. Be sure not to overcrowd the food. Se Some food may require to be flipped or shaken about halfway through the cook time for an even golden crispy texture.

Typically when choosing an Air Fry temperature and cooking time I will refer to the package instructions. Some brands now list air frying instructions on the package directions. As a rule of thumb, I usually keep the temperature setting the same or less by 25°. Cooking times will be longer compared to the small countertop appliance but shorter cooking process than preparing multiple small batches or baking conventionally in a standard oven.

TIPS FOR AIR FRYING

When learning to use the air fryer function on the full-size range watch the food closely the first time you prepare something. Some appliances’ air fry functions cook faster around the edges and food will need to be rotated or moved to avoid burning. I recommend keeping a notebook or cheat sheet close by when experimenting with air-frying new recipes. The cooking times and temperatures listed have been tested multiple times but still should be used as a close estimate. Keep in mind the air frying time and temperatures may vary by specific brands and kitchen appliances.

AIR FRYING VS. CONVECTION

A convection oven cooks with a fan that continually circulates hot air around the oven to produce a more even and consistent cooking temperature. A true convection oven will have three heating elements one on top and bottom and one around the fan. I have personally had an electric convection oven for the past ten years and I really enjoyed the convection cooking. Convection cooking or (hot air circulation) results in faster and more evenly cooked food. Most new Samsung ranges now offer conventional bake, convection bake, and air fry functions.

Air frying uses convection technology and a high-speed fan that has been “souped” up. When air frying in the Samsung oven you are cooking with a specialized convection setting designed with superheated air and a higher-speed fan. No need for deep frying, air frying gives us a healthier way to achieve the delicious crispy foods we love without all the excess fat and oil.

FASTER COOKING

With powerful heat and convection fans in the new air fry mode, you’ll use significantly less oil and spend less time making your favorite recipes for your family all at once instead of standing over a small air fryer cooking in batches. The gas version offers a 5-burner cooktop offers a triple ring burner with a rapid boil putting out 18,000 BTUs and the electric version offers a triple burner and warmer burner. The Smartthings cooking app easily monitors and controls your range using your phone.

PROS & CONS

If you’re considering upgrading from a countertop air fryer to a full-size range with air fry you might be asking if it’s really worth the investment. If you are not in the market for a new oven or range it probably doesn’t make sense to upgrade, however, if you are in need of a new appliance like I was it is totally worth the investment.

FAQs

How do air fryer cook times compared to oven? ›

To convert cooking temperatures from a regular oven to an air fryer, you need to keep in mind that air fryers cook food in less time and at a higher temperature than conventional ovens. Typically, you can reduce the cooking time by about 20-25% when using an air fryer compared to a conventional oven.

How do I convert baking time and temperature to air fryer? ›

A good general rule of thumb when converting a conventional oven recipe to an air fryer recipe is to reduce the temperature by 25-50°F and reduce the cooking time by about 20%. However, this is a general rule and different recipes will vary. It's always better to start the timer low and check your food often.

How do you convert cooking times to different temperatures? ›

This formula will help you find the right cooking time to adjust by multiplying the initial time by the percentage difference caused by temperature change. For example, if you want to cook from 400˚F (200˚C) to 450˚F (230˚C), then that would be: 400 ÷ 450 = 0.89 or 89%. From here, you can adjust the expected time.

How do you convert cooking instructions for air fryer? ›

To convert baking time to an air fryer, reduce the temperature by 25 degrees F and reduce the cooking time by 20%. These are general rules, so you'll want to keep an eye on your food (at least the first time you try out a new recipe) to make sure that it's cooking correctly.

Can you put aluminum foil in an air fryer? ›

Foil is safe to use in an air fryer so long as you follow three basic rules: never let foil touch the heating element; make sure the foil is weighted so it doesn't blow around the basket; and avoid contact with acidic ingredients, which can cause the foil to leach onto your food.

Is 400 degrees hot enough for air fryer? ›

For most meats, you'll set the temperature at 400 degrees to cook for eight to 10 minutes. Most vegetables cook really well in the air fryer, too; I simply toss them in a light coating of olive oil and seasoning before I heat them up. For example, I'll air-fry broccoli for 12 minutes at 400 degrees.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer? ›

This could be good for freezer foods, such as chicken cutlet patties, chicken tenders, fries, or Tator Tots. In general, preheating the air fryer will have the cooking process start out at a higher temperature, which will decrease cooking time. So if you are looking to have great food faster, preheating can help.

How long do I cook something at 400 instead of 450? ›

Divide 400 by 450 to get the percentage difference of 0.89, or 89%. You will then take the initial cooking time of 60 minutes at 400 F, or 200 C, and multiply it by 0.89 to get 53 minutes.

What temperature do you air fry chicken at? ›

After testing a variety of temperatures, I found that 375 degrees F is the best temperature for air frying chicken. Because the air fryer uses convection heat, you do not need to set it as high as you would an oven (in a regular oven, 425 degrees F is best for baking chicken, like Bacon Wrapped Chicken Breast).

What is the difference between air fry temperature and bake temperature? ›

For most recipes, you will want to lower your air fryer temperature by 25 to 50 degrees. So if the original recipe says to cook at 425° in the oven, expect to set the air fryer to 400° at the highest. Starchier vegetables, like roasted potatoes, love higher heats and most meats do well at a wide range of temperatures.

Can you put metal in an air fryer? ›

You can use any ovenproof dish or mold in the Philips Airfryer, whether it is made of glass, ceramic, metal, or silicone. You can also use silicone or paper cupcake cups or molds to bake cupcakes, muffins, or small gratins.

How do you convert frying time to air fryer? ›

Drop the heat.

Plus, it could brown too quickly. Knock the temperature down by 25 degrees: If a fried recipe calls for 350 degrees F set your air fryer to 325 degrees F and follow the same cook time.

Can I put aluminum foil in an air fryer? ›

Foil is safe to use in an air fryer so long as you follow three basic rules: never let foil touch the heating element; make sure the foil is weighted so it doesn't blow around the basket; and avoid contact with acidic ingredients, which can cause the foil to leach onto your food.

What is the conversion for 350 in air fryer? ›

The general rule of thumb is, you'll want to reduce the cooking temperature by about 25-30 degrees Fahrenheit (15-20 degrees Celsius) when using an air fryer. For example, if a recipe calls for baking at 350°F (175°C) in the oven, set your air fryer to around 320-325°F (160-165°C).
